Our History

When we embraced the intrinsic bond of our tradition with Roman culture, we also decided to share its values and aspirations. We want to offer our customers a real cultural experience that can enrich and satisfy not only the stomach but also the mind, prompting them to come back again not only to confirm their satisfaction with the excellence of our cuisine but to trigger that mechanism of curiosity in discovery of particular and exciting stories linked to the tradition of ancient Rome, which leads them to spend not only a pleasant evening but also an adventure that enriches them.

To date, we want to consider the opening of our restaurant as the "pilot project" of our Vision. In the classic Roman numbering, 0 does not exist and this is why we will start from the number I, our first Store, which we intend to multiply shortly. Yes, because expansion is one of the goals we believe in the most. We have passed the Pillars of Hercules, and we will try to conquer Londinium, but like all the greatest leaders, we are already turning our gaze to overseas destinations!

Our Concept

At the basis of our concept is the study of the raw material, the attention to the quality and the transformation of the raw product. The ancient Rome of the imperial era, taking care to forge commercial and military relationships with many cultures, has acquired, over time, an increasingly refined taste in the search for flavours to offer during lavish banquets and so our cuisine combines classic flavours of the Italian tradition (among the variegated specialities there will be - and main course - the Roman Pinsa, the evolution of the ancient focaccia) those of spices and alternative flavours of Africa, Spain and the Middle East.

And it is precisely from this that Amor was born, an idea even before being a restaurant, the idea of starting from ancient roots, offering modern frenzy a moment to stop and savour, in an ancient way, the flavours that have conquered Emperors, Heroes and Fighters, for an indispensable, necessary return to the origins of our food culture.

Our wine

Wine: the drink most loved by the Romans. The ancient production included both the red quality (vinum atrum) and the white quality (vinum candidum), and was traded on a large scale.

At the time, some cooperatives aimed at the sale of this drink were even formed, called "collegium"; in Rome the existence of a port and a market essentially equipped for the sale of wine has been verified: portum vinarium and forum vinarium

The pinsa

The Roman pinsa is a dish rich in history, its origins date back to ancient Rome. Not a simple alternative version of pizza (as many think), but one of its ancestor.

The difference with pizza is not only in the shape, but also in the dough and its crumbly consistency. Pinsa has had a rediscovery and success in recent years that have made it the protagonist of the kitchen in Rome and throughout Italy

The banquet

For the ancient Romans, the banquet dinner, which lasted until late at night, was the most important meal of the day. All five senses were invited to it: in addition to seeing, touching and tasting, one spoke and listened.

If the ceremony culminated in the sharing of meat, the spectacular was guaranteed by dance, music and theater scenes. Our proposal meets the tradition of the ancient Banquet, inviting diners to live a new experience, savouring the pleasure of food and traditions of the past.

More about Amor

AMOR is a place in central London where you can meet, in the typical convivial way of ancient Rome Our idea sees the meeting of the food culture of ancient times, with the evolution of modern taste from the genuine flavors of one of the most loved cuisines in the world: Italian cuisine.

Past.
Present.
Future.

Born of Love.

"Like Venus, Goddess of Love was born from the foam of the sea, Amor was born from our passion for the tradition of classical culture and for good Italian food"
